As usual, every year at this time I am pleased to express our appreciation to all of the peer reviewers who helped us by assessing manuscripts during the previous year. Without their voluntary and non-remunerated support, this journal would not be able carry out its mission, which is to help health care practitioners and policymakers in making better decisions for the people they serve.

It is also very important to mention that during 2016 we issued a call to register as peer reviewer in the journal. This call was heeded by nearly 800 health care professionals from a long roster of countries around the world. Thus we were able to renew our peer reviewer database to only include those who are genuinely interested in conducting this invaluable collaboration.
